Overview
4Schools brings creative careers in TV and Broadcasting right into the classroom. Irrespective of a student's favourite subject, the skills they excel in, or their academic achievements, there is a place, or career, for everyone in the TV and Broadcasting industry. 4Schools brings together industry insight from Channel 4 and expert early careers advice from GetMyFirstJob into this one-of-a-kind programme for 11-16 year olds.

We worked with our long term client GetMyFirstJob on this project and were given the brief to bring together the creative for a National Campaign for 4Schools. A scalable, multi-channel design system that supported the strategic delivery teams.
It had to be bold, punchy and seamlessly align with the Channel 4 aesthetic whilst having its own unique identity.

Our approach
Our approach
We wanted bold, we wanted fun and we wanted to deliver impact for this young audience and to back up the exciting vision the GetMyFirstJob and 4 Schools team had put together. So off to work we went.
Creative direction
Our first challenge was keeping within a pretty strict brand playing field that is Channel 4. Their brand and identity is so strong that we had to make sure we were aligning with this. So we work closely with the Channel 4 brand dept, sharing ideas in very early stages to avoid time-wasting and making sure we were 'locked in' before expanding out on the direction piece.

Brand creation
A core of the Channel 4 brand architecture is to give each project (channel) its own colour identity. We experimented a fair bit on this before settling with the primary Navy & Orange combo. We also built some flex in this with some punchy supporting flavours. The biggest task was the amount of collateral requests for the campaign. Early doors we designed and built a wealth of templates, each being signed off as we went, to collate together an extensive design system that would give us speed, efficiency and quality.

Web Design
Aside from the significant brand & collateral requests, we were tasked with putting the 4Schools platform design together. Through the initial brand exercise, we developed a module library that we were able to re-purpose into the web environment. This allowed for speed of deployment and consistency. We worked closely with the GetMyFirstJob code geniuses to bring these designs to life.

Campaign Support
The campaign was extremely ambitious, and over the initial 12 months it really did scale at speed. The CreativeFolks team were on hand with dedicated resources to design, create and produce on demand to keep the wheels moving and support the growing delivery team.

"I had so much fun working on this as we had so many great iconic assets to work with from modern day television and film. Half the battle when creating is making sure you have some cool ingredients to work with and this project certainly ticked that box.
